A whole lot of prayer has been going on at our house lately.
For good reasons and for not so good reasons.
I do have one prayer success to report: my friend Sarge's cancer is now undetectable! Yes, it went from softball size to undetectable -- a miracle. He has two more chemo treatments left to ensure it is gone...
Believe in miracles... I do!

Friday's Stream
Good morning everyone! I've been in Alaska all night. We had our airstream parked on a HUGE frozen lake. Lots of my friends were there, parked on the lake as well. it was another crazy dream. I blame it on the fluffer-nutter sandwich I had before bed. LOL!
I'm reading an interesting book. Looks like it will be a quick read. I picked it up about a 1/2 hour ago and I'm already on page 25. It's called The Grief Recovery Handbook by John W. James and Russell Friedman. It covers grief in general for all kinds of loss -- death, divorce, relationships, health, career, faith, etc.
The photo above shows a table topper I made from a yard of fabric and four printed napkins. All it needs is a cute tassel on each corner. It really gives the table some umph!
Hubby just had me make a reservation for a road trip. Tune in tomorrow to find out where we'll be... It's going to be interesting and fun!
Well, gotta scoot. Need to get some laundry done for the trip.

Good morning everyone.
Wow, yesterday was a busy day. I cleaned out the pantry cabinets, making sure everything I had was still good. Since I do this regularly, I didn't have a lot of stuff to pitch. Just three small grocery bags worth.
I went to Publix and did my shopping. Most grocery stores right now are doing bags for the food banks. I picked one that had the most balanced selections. More and more people are finding it difficult to make ends meet. No one needs to go hungry. Please, regardless of where you are in life, please Take a few dollars and help out your local food bank. It will pay you back tenfold...
Later I went to Costco and stocked up on meat. If I plan correctly, I have enough food to last until the end of the year (except fresh veggies /dairy). Best of all, Costco is carrying my favorite fish sticks again! They're the Trident brand Ultimate Fish Stick. I love them because they're not minced and the breading isn't overly heavy. Plus, it's a good whitefish (like walleye), not the nasty bottom-feeding tilapia (ewww!). Can you tell I'm not a tilapia fan? LOL!
I baked a chicken yesterday. Got a batch of stock in the fridge and will be skimming off the schmaltz and making chicken soup. Hubby and I can get several meals out of one chicken.
Worth a Look
Speaking of food, I was researching something for a friend of hubby's who is having a rough time getting food on her table. If you are finding it difficult to make ends meet with the grocery bill, there is help available. I learned about this ministry through several message board friends. They have received this ministry's blessings and speak it's praises.
It's called Angel Food Ministries. The ministry negotiates pricing with food manufacturers/restaurant suppliers to provide low-cost, nutritionally-balanced food boxes. These boxes are designed to feed a family of four for a week. What I like best about this is there are no income qualifications (max or min), no applications, they also accept Food Stamps (great way to stretch your $$), and allow you to cook the food to your taste. If you look at what the food boxes contain, the boxes usually contain food that is worth about double what $30 box price is... For December they also have a number of specialty boxes (fruit boxes, meat and cheese combo, grill box, chicken box, produce box, etc.). I'm toying with the idea of ordering a few myself!
The website suggests you could even purchase the boxes from them and use your grocery savings to bless someone else. Paying it forward. That's what it's all about!
There was an estate sale at one of the units several floors below. Gladys picked up some stuff and I got a cool vintage casserole dish. a few days ago I saw a collection of vintage casserole dishes online and I started salivating. Love the old colored Pyrex... My ultimate find will be the multi-colored mixing bowl set that Mom had. You know how I love kitchen stuff...
I started a new quilt for Iggy, since the other one didn't turn out. I also designed Bah's quilt. I spent last night writing out the patterns. Got Iggy's cut and a few rows sewn. I'm keeping it simple this time.
Not much else going on. Just kinda hanging around today.

Wednesday's Stream
Good morning!
Yesterday I did absolutely nothing. Accomplished nothing. Hubby and I just stayed in our jammies all day and hung out. I'm hoping I can clear the buckshot outta my rear today and get out to run some errands.
I can't believe that it's been two years since my father passed away (November 18, 2007). I'm much better now than I was a year ago, and markedly better than I was two years ago. It's hard to believe that I'm part of the "old folks" in the family. I've passed through the stages of grief and now able to look back without getting sad and weepy -- acceptance.
Hubby's hand are healing. While his right hand still hurts a bit (the one he fell on), he said it is feeling better each day.
I've got a spammer who targets the same two posts on my blogs. What's up with that?
Today's a busy kitchen day. Headed to the grocery to purchase two chickens and maybe some pork butts. I'll be baking the two chickens and will make a leftover casserole, soup and chicken salad from what we don't eat. Costco usually has the best price for whole chickens. I'll also be cutting up the pork butt (really a shoulder) into steaks, small roasts, making chunks for sauce and soup, and grind some for homemade sausage. I much prefer to make my own breakfast sausage, that way I can control the fat. Costco vac-packs two shoulders together and I can usually get at least 15 meals from a package.
It's been nice having Gladys here. She gets a kick out of us in the mornings. Hubby and I are usually in bed, drinking coffee and plunking on our laptops when she wakes up and comes to see us. For some odd reason she gets a kick outta that.
I'm blessed that the clouds of grief have passed, thankful for family and friends, and awed by the experiences life brings...
Go out and make it a good one, y'all!

Tuesday's Stream
Today started up yucky. It was foggy, and gray. So, I put it upon myself to finish my current quilt. It is done and in the washer as I type. I wasn't pleased with the way it turned out. This one was originally for my niece, but I'm keeping it. This means I'm adding yet another project to my to-do list. This one I'm keeping will be chalked up to "practice."
Big news is I got my carry permit in the mail. Finally. Just because I have it doesn't mean I'll be carrying. It's so I can legally take my guns to the target range without issue. Just want to operate under the law.
Not sure what else I have planned for the day. I know I need to get to the grocery, but I'm just not motivated enough to dress...Yup, I'm back in lounging clothes again. I just might have to make myself get up and go.
I'm glad to read that a lot of folks saw what I thought the reasoning was behind the mammogram thing I mentioned yesterday. To quote SNL's Church Lady... "How conveeenient!"
The cookies I made yesterday turned out wonderful. I will be making my own brown sugar from now on. That way it's always fresh. I think that ginger cookie is my signature cookie, cause it's just soooo good!
Well, gotta scoot. Haven't eaten yet today and I need to do some meal planning.
Y'all behave... but if you can't, just have fun!
