Good Sunday morning! I'm wasting time before we leave for breakfast. We're trying to get in one last breakfast from our favorite family-style joint -- Monell's. They make the bestest fried chicken ever! And pass the cheese grits please.
Yep, iIt's all served family style. You are seated at an open table, eat with strangers, and leave as friends. Hank and I just love this place!
Today we're heading out to do some last-minute shopping before we move and take a trip to the gun range to do some practice shooting. I really need to remmeber that I have to apply for my carry permit tomorrow. I need to do that before my certificate expired. Oh, and for the record, I shot better on the test than Hank. I got 48/48 and he got 47/48. Girls rule! (Of course the instructor was totally deadpan and said it was my gun and not me...LOL). I love my Sig P239.
Rumor has it we're going to be close to the Sig factory in Massachusetts, so I'm going to sign up for one of the professional courses. Look out world, don't mess with Lois on the target range...
We both had a special treat yesterday... no, not what you think... Get your minds out of the gutter!
We were able to get together with the kids and just spend some time. We delivered our freezer contents to Gladys and Darryl. Mabel's in town visiting. Gladys and I got on the subject of sewing. Plus I brought some fabric by to show Mabel my next project. I'm making an apron for her out of some fun vintage-look cherry fabric.
Mabel commented on how she'd like to learn to sew, so I hopped on the web, typed in my favorite source for machines and ordered one for her (factory serviced, of course... also fixed her up with all sorts of goodies). I'm excited. So now we three and get together and sew! Perfect for a good "Stitch-n-Bitch" afternoon in our future... LOL!
I can't wait to see the projects taht Mabel comes up with. If she is any bit as creative as her older sister, Mom, aunt, and Grandma -- she's going to be a pro!
Poor Gladys, she spied a mouse and went into a full blown panic attack. I have to admit that at one point it was funny. The mouse crawled up on the eaves, and stood there staring at her. Gladys was screaming and the mouse had this total look of terror (much like that ad video posted yesterday). Seriously.
I understand her fears. While mice and snakes don't bother me, hard shell bugs that crunch and bugs that buzz are my nemesis.
So that's it for today... Have a great day.
Tomorrow the packing begins for the big move...

8 Hey Lois! (click here to comment):
You are going to be a busy little girl for a while. Stay safe and keep us updated!
you are so right on the shel bugs that crunch. Although come to think of it, I really do hate snakes and spiders too.
I can send Gandalf over to take care of that mouse for ya! He's one Mighty Hunter!
Stich-n-Bitch... priceless. You're a hoot, Lois! And you're making me miss quilting. Just saying.
I don't like mice or snakes either, and of course my fear of spiders is quite well documented.
well i'm not crazy about any of those pesky things, but i think snakes are the worst. have fun on the trip honey!
amiles, bee
xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
Missy could rid Gladys of that mouse in a heartbeat! She is quick.
Good luck with all that moving business and keep us posted. Big hugs...
rats, including the ones in pet stores, and moths are the ones that leave me nigh on screaming in terror. though i have gotten somewhat better about the moths because i had to try to reverse boy's fear of all insects. so i only fear the big ones. rats, however, are always terrifying.
I just had to check out your favorite place, didn't I? I originaly did not want to spend over $100 (I'm just a beginner who's trying to remember sewing from high school), but they have such a great deals on that web.*sigh* I'll see if I can buy the second one ;o)
