Saturday in a Nutshell

Linda, Lois, Mags, and Hank

Here's a photo from Friday's meetup with Linda and Mags. Not that Linda and I share the same "dead turkey white" legs... (thanks to my royal English breeding) Glad I'm not alone. Scary part is, they're probably tan...LOL! A fun time was had, lunch consumed and laughs abounded. Mags finally got her prize for guessing the day/time my stone passed. She got a monogrammed wheeled tote for city shopping.

After our blogger visit we drove to Haverhill to buy bikes. Hubby and I are now bikers (David, you'd be so poud!). While we didn't buy anything fancy, this private retailer fitted us and got us just what we wanted. The bike guy even picked out a basket for my bike. I was hoping for something wicker with flowers, but he hit the nail on the head on his choice, as it's removable for shopping (how cool!). Now I have to learn how to do this again. I'll wait until the campground empties out to avoid major embarrassment on my part. Let's just say that "grace" is far from my middle name! A chat buddy asked me if I got a bell. I didn't. I figured that people would have a pretty good chance of seeing me coming at them, then hearing the expletive  I'd shout as I pass by, trying not to crash or hit anyone...LOL!

This morning we got up early and went to town for Breakfast. We found a cute little local joint - The Stagecoach. They have a killer breakfast. Hubby got corned beef hash and eggs and I had eggs benedict. YUM! Our server, Kim, was so friendly. The menu board featured lots of home-cooking favorites for dinner, so we'll be hitting this place often. They had sliced lamb roast, seafood, meatloaf and all sots of goodies. This place packs em in. Hubby says it's always packed on his way to work. We call places like these "cafes" (rhymes with safes). Hank's dad used to say that... just cheap good eats...

After breakfast we visited this really cool discount store in town... They had tons of overstocks and odd items at rock-bottom prices. Odd things like 10-packs of showercaps, decorative items, sheets, candles, cleaners, toiletires, clothes, etc. I came out with a foldable mirror  and set of two nail files for 99 cents, some shampoo for 99 cents, and some DG designer sunglasses for $3.99.

We took a short drive up to New Hampshire. I enjoy the New Hampshire scenery. This time we took the interstate and some back roads up. Hubby wanted to drop by the Sig Sauer Shooting Academy to see what they had, so we paid them a visit. It was just a quick in and out to get some literature.

On our way back we took the backroads. We drove through Exeter, NH and ended up detoured (town festival) driving through a beautiful private boarding school campus. On the way back to Salisbury we saw some beautiful homes and property. I have to say that the homes up and surrounding property here are just picturesque and full of character.

We passed a marsh flat.

Then we hit the interstate for Methuen to do some shopping. Hubby had to go to Home Depot and I needed to visit a Target. We also hit Borders to pick up some Gazzetters for Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New York. We'll need to locate a Maine one somewhere, as well as one for Vermont. Yes, we plan on doing some traveling.

Then we headed home to rest for a bit, putter around the house (on wheels) and have some quiet time...

Life is good... extry good!

Wowsa. You packed a LOT into one post - and in a short period of time!
Your bikes are awesome!!! How cool is it that your basket comes off to make a shopping basket!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Obviously we share the same English breeding as is witnessed by our matching stumps ... er, legs! So nice to meet someone (other than Claire!) who is paler than myself!

Sounds like you had quite the packed weekend and got to see some lovely sights. I know which private school you're talking about in Exeter as I've been there myself. There was a movie set there years ago called "A Separate Peace" that was based on a book I had to read in high school. At the time the movie came out, I still lived in Portsmouth and I thought it was wicked cool that the movie was filmed just down the road!

Enjoy your new wheels and make sure have Hank take a picture so that you can post it and show off your fine bicycling skills to us! Helmet and all!

You know, your awning would look awesome in that fabulous stripey fabric. Just saying!

And I'm totally jealous that you all got together and my dead turkey whites weren't there, too!
